The Person-Centred Therapist

About My Therapy Practice

I believe that good therapy is based on a safe and trusting relationship. My offer to clients is an honest, open, and transparent approach. I will hold a space for you that feels dependable and trustworthy, and we will work at a pace that feels right for you. You will be in charge of the accelerator, the brake, and the steering wheel!

Whatever you bring to therapy, my attention is on you as a human being. Experience suggests that once a person feels heard and understood, they feel better able to understand and offer acceptance to themselves; from here, change can happen.

Much of my therapeutic experience has involved trauma therapy, working with individuals who have faced childhood neglect, rape, and sexual abuse. I also provide anxiety support for those seeking help with bereavement, self-esteem therapy, self-harm, and relationship issues. Additionally, I assist clients dealing with parenting stress and the challenges of belonging to minority groups. I work with individuals who experience changeable moods and those who find emotions difficult to regulate or tolerate. Being in a space where you are totally accepted for who you are can be such a healing experience.

Above all, I work alongside people who are in distress or discomfort and feel that they are ready for a change.

My comfortable therapy room is based in the centre of Rugby and is easily accessible by car, bus, or train. I also offer online sessions via Zoom.

This is a crucial step forward in trauma therapy and self-healing.

Emotional distress or 'mental health' difficulties may be viewed as medical problems. This perspective can obscure how a person is viewed, but I take the person-centred view that thoughts, feelings, and behavior can be understood as a natural response to life experiences. I believe that human relationships can be healing and provide the necessary anxiety support, helping individuals develop an optimistic outlook for the future. Additionally, I see the value in self-esteem therapy and trauma therapy as vital components in supporting one's mental health journey.

I am responsive to the direction that the client wishes to take, being empathic and attuned to how the client is feeling. I provide anxiety support and accept clients unconditionally, recognizing that their path is unique. I avoid making assumptions about what is going on for the client, allowing them to tell their unique story. I value and respect that the client knows what is in their own best interests, especially during self-esteem therapy, if only they can find the space to listen and trust their gut. Additionally, I offer trauma therapy to help clients navigate their experiences.
